Early Hanukkah

We all enjoyed an early first day of Hanukkah (as if 8 days weren't enough!) before the cousins departed. (We missed Zoe, who was under the weather :(.) And you can see Rose is already sitting better... Of course she loves the crinkly paper (and she gets REALLY mad when you take crinkly paper from her), but she actually liked the present too.

Cousin Alert!

We enjoyed a visit from the Brooklyn cousins (and their parents) last weekend. Jack is CRAZY about his cousins, especially Violet. At one point I had to tell him that he could not follow her into the bathroom. They played all weekend, around our house, the Car "Mezoo-ee-um", and Santa Monica Pier. Jack informed me several times that "me and Violet are having our own conversation." And indeed they were. (You will note that Jack is in a sling. This is due to an injury sustained dismounting his ladder bed. After 2 visits to different urgent cares, we determined that it is not broken. So he will wear the sling to try to prevent excessive use and allow whatever it is to heal.)

Holding her own...

... bottle. Rose can sort of hold her own bottle, if it is the small one. She is such a little piggy, though, that usually she needs teh big bottle. She is definitely interested in that bottle. She is already 19 pounds, the size of an average 9 month old.

Family Time!

We enjoyed visits from Uncle Matt, Uncle Pate, and Grandma Martha in November!

Real Haircut

Jack's hair has straightened out to the point that it is no longer so forgiving of "Mommy cuts" and can't be so long. So we took him to get a real haircut. As you can tell from teh photos, he took this very seriously and sat quite still. It has been a hard adjustment for mom--he looks so much older, but cute as ever.

Sitting

Rose has been sitting for a couple weeks now. Sometimes she gets a little slumped over, but she is getting stronger and will be lifting herself back up in no time!

Maybe if I stare hard enough that food will levitate into my mouth.

Introducing Solids!

Jack did the honor of feeding Rose her first "solid" food. Not surprisingly, a lot went on her face and on the floor, but she actually ate a lot. Within a few days, she was eating a whole jar. She is into the food, but she still looks at the rest of us eating intently, as if she is sure what we have is better!

Rose rolled over today!!

Trying to make sure the second child gets at least minimal documentation of her milestones. She is also eating solids. Photos to follow soon!

Picture Day

Jack was willing to dress up for picture day (which was a big concession because he normally insists in shorts and a T-shirt "with something on it"), but he really wanted the vest, and he really wanted it unbuttoned. "It's my style." OK then, handsome little boy.
