Sequoia National Park

Finally, we arrived in Sequoia National Park (our nation's second national park, after Yellowstone, we learned from the Burns documentary). We soon joined about 30 families from Jack's preschool at the Dorst Creek campground. The kids had such a great time exploring the campground, looking for deer and other animals, scanning the horizon with "high quality binoculars" for lightening (despite the lack of a cloud in the sky ever), and asking if it is time to make S'mores... We did see a buck and a black bear at the campground. And we didn't wake up, but our neighbor campers said a bear was shakign our bear box on the second night! Glad it was well-secured.
