UM Flathead Lake Biological Station Open House

In all my years, I have never been, but apparently the UM Biological Station in Yellow Bay has an open house every year. It was quite cool. The UM mascot was there, we got to see (and touch!) a lot of animal pelts, we went on the research boat to see the research bouy (made in collaboration with Woods Hole!), and Jack got to hold a bird that had fallen out of its nest (some kids of one of the researchers found it -- apparently it is ok to touch them). We went with the kids to return the bird to its nest, it saw its mom, and took its first flight! Jack also enjoyed hearing about the food web and how it has been messed up by the introduction of a species of shrimp.
